Total abgedreht: ein Mal im Jahr strömen zehntausende Freidenker zum Burning Man in Nevada’s Black Rock Wüste, 2025 vom 24. August bis zum 01. September

Das jährliche Festival findet im US-Bundesstaat Nevada etwa 150 Kilometer nord-östlich von Reno entfernt in der Black Rock Wüste statt. Es dauert acht Tage und endet traditionell am ersten Montag im September mit dem Verbrennen einer sich jährlich verändernden menschlichen Statue. Daher auch der Name „Burning Man“. 

 

Das diesjährige Motto lautet „Tomorrow Today“.  

Während des Burning Man entsteht eine temporäre Stadt mitten in der Wüste mit allerlei und immer außergewöhnlichen Ideen. An diesem Ort intensiver Selbstdarstellung kann sich jeder so zeigen, wie er ist oder sein möchte. Auf jeden Fall ist es eine große Party, auf der auch immer mehr VIPs mitfeiern. Was viele jedoch befremdlich sehen. 

Die Eintittspreise starten in diesem Jahr ab 550 Dollar

Das erste Festival fand 1986 mit nur 20 Teilnehmern am Strand von San Fransisco statt. Als 1990 das Verbrennen der Statue dort verboten wurde, zog das Festival in die Wüste von Nevada um.

In 1986 the first Man burns on a San Francisco Beach.
Larry Harvey and friend Jerry James knock an improvised wooden figure.
And drag it down to Baker beach on the Summer Solstice.
They light it up, and a curious crowd gathers to watch it burn.
