Bei der Terra Lounge-Serie treffen ein hohes Maß an Komfort auf Design der Extraklasse. Sitz und Rückenlehne bilden eine durchlaufende Einheit, das verleiht dem Sessel eine elegante Silhouette. Hinter dem guten Look steckt aber allerhand Raffinesse.
Großzügige Polsterung, fließende Kurven und etliche neue Ideen schaffen ein äußerst komfortables Sitzerlebnis.
Komfort war eine Priorität bei der Entwicklung.
Daher wird hier eine einzigartige Konstruktion von zwei
Polyurethanschalen mit unterschiedlichen Schaumstoffdichten eingesetzt, die an die
Ergonomie des menschlichen Körpers angepasst ist.
Der mittlere Teil des
Sitzes ist weich und nachgiebig, während die festeren Zonen am Rand für
die nötige Unterstützung und Stabilität sorgen.
Versionen mit hoher Rückenlehne sind auch mit einem
versteckten Wippmechanismus ausgestattet, die sanfte Bewegung unterstreicht das Gefühl von Komfort beim Sitzen nochmals.
Die Terra Lounge Sessel sind in zwei Höhen, mit mehreren Gestellvarianten und einem Fußhocker erhältlich.
Damit ist dieses Modell perfekt für Büros, öffentliche Bereiche und natürlich auch für daheim geeignet.
Auch Kombinationen von Stoff und Leder sind hier möglich.

„Bei der Terra Kollektion wollten wir neu überdenken, wie Loungesessel
geformt sind und man in ihnen sitzt. Anstelle der traditionellen
horizontalen Unterteilung in Sitz und Rückenlehne arbeiteten wir mit
einer durchgehenden Form. Der Sitzteil wird von zwei geformten
Seitenteilen eingerahmt, die gleichzeitig als Armlehnen dienen. Der
Sessel erhält dadurch eine markante, leicht erkennbare Form und bietet
gleichzeitig eine ausgewogene und bequeme Körperunterstützung.“
Das italienische Designstudio Orlandini Design (
www.orlandinidesign.net) wurde 2008 von Folco Orlandini mit seinem Vater Paolo gegründet.
Der Firmensitz ist in Sedriano, eine Ortschaft in der Provinz Mailand.
Die starren Schalen und der weiche Schaumstoff sind ausschließlich aus
Polyurethan gefertigt, Metallverstärkungen kommen hier nicht zum Einsatz.
So lässt sich der Sessel am Ende seiner Lebensdauer leicht
demontieren und recyceln.

Terra Lounge reflects a growing demand for soft seating that
does more than simply look good.
The series is designed to respond to
how the body actually sits, moves and settles, while also addressing the
full lifecycle of the product, from material choice through to
production and end-of-life recyclability.
The collection includes
armchairs in two design-compatible heights, a matching footrest and a
range of base options, making it ideal for office lounges, public spaces
and hospitality environments, as well as high-end private residences.
Comfort perfectly tuned to the body
Comfort
was the starting point for Terra Lounge and remains central to its
design.
The seat is built using a unique construction of two
polyurethane shells combined with two different foam densities.
This
structure creates a softer, welcoming centre, while firmer zones around
the edges provide stability and support.
Generous
padding, flowing curves and balanced proportions work together to ensure
the armchair responds naturally, offering an incredibly comfortable
seating experience from the first moment and remaining supportive over
time.
Selected high-back versions are also available with a discreet
integrated rocking mechanism, adding gentle movement that enhances
long-term comfort.
A continuous approach to form
Visually,
Terra Lounge is defined by a single, continuous form.
The seat and
backrest flow together without interruption, framed by sculpted side
panels that also function as armrests.
This design gives the armchair an
eye-catching, elegant silhouette, while supporting the body in a
natural and balanced way.
Designer Folco Orlandini:
“With Terra, we wanted to
rethink how a lounge armchair is shaped and experienced, Instead of the traditional separation between seat and
backrest, the design is organised as one continuous form. The seating
area is framed by two sculpted side panels that also serve as armrests,
giving the armchair a recognisable shape while supporting comfort in a
very intuitive way.”
The option to upholster the
seating area and outer shell in different materials opens up a wide
range of visual possibilities.
Pairing fabrics, textures or materials
allows Terra Lounge to adapt to different interiors while emphasising
its distinctive shape.
Sustainability built into the design
Sustainability
is built directly into Terra Lounge’s structure. Both the rigid shells
and the soft foam are made entirely from polyurethane, without metal
inserts.
This makes the armchair easy to disassemble and recycle at the
end of its life, supporting a more circular approach to furniture
production.
Advances in polyurethane recycling now
allow material from ground components to be reused when producing both
rigid and foam polyurethane.
This reinforces polyurethane as a durable
and responsible material choice for furniture designed to last.
The
polyurethane components, including the rigid PU shell, and four-leg
steel bases are manufactured at LD Seating’s premises in Boskovice,
Czech Republic.
The four-star cross bases and rocking mechanisms
are produced within the EU.
The approach keeps production local and
within Europe, supporting consistent quality, shorter supply chains and
responsible manufacturing standards.
A growing demand
“Over the past
year, we have seen a clear shift in how architects and clients approach
interior spaces. There is growing demand for lounge seating that offers
genuine comfort, a strong visual identity and the flexibility to suit a
wide range of settings. This direction aligns closely with our strengths
in craftsmanship, particularly in upholstery, sewing and foam moulding,
and supports a more sustainable approach through local production with
