Die 1969 erstmals gezeigte Monaco veränderte das Gesicht der Schweizer Luxus-Uhrmacherkunst für immer, ist bis heute eine Ikone in ihrer Welt. In der Zwischenzeit gab es diverse Variationen, die jede für sich Symbole für Sportlichkeit sind. Kein Wunder, dass die neueste und auf 50 Exemplare limitierte Variante ihre Premiere beim Formel 1-Rennen in Monaco hat.
Die Uhr knüpft an die lange Motorsporthistorie der Monaco an, dem 1969 erstmal vorgestellten quadratischen und wasserdichten Chronograph mit Automatikwerk.
Weltweit richtig bekannt wurde dieses Meisterwerk ab 1971 durch den Film „Le Mans“ von Lee H. Katzin.
In dem machte Steve McQueen eine
avantgardistische Uhr zu einem zeitlosen Symbol für Geschwindigkeit,
Stil und Widerstandsfähigkeit.
Auch dadurch erreichte sie einen legendären Kultstatus, den nur wenige Uhren genießen.
Etwas Glück gehört auch hier dazu, denn zur Auswahl standen für den Film gleich mehrere Uhren: neben Heuer auch Modelle von Rolex, Omega und Longines.
McQueen entschied sich zuerst für eine Omega Speedmaster.
Allerdings war eine gerade auf dem Mond gewesen, das Modell hatte daher bereits den Spitznamen Astronauten-Uhr. Für einen Film über ein Motorsport-Highlight war das natürlich nicht gut.
Außerdem war es für den Hollywoodschauspieler irgendwie merkwürdig so eine Uhr zu tragen, wenn auf dem Rennoveral Heuer steht.
So wie bei dem von ihm bewunderten Jo Siffert.
Als ihm dies durch den Kopf ging, griff er zur Monaco mit Stahlgehäuse und blauem Ziffernblatt.
Der Anfang einer langen und erfolgreichen Geschichte.
Zwölfzylindermotor
Die neue Monaco Speed 12 überträgt die Idee eines Zwölfzylinders in die Mechanik einer Armbanduhr.
Zwölf rotierende Kolben laufen um das Zifferblatt und zeigen die jeweilige Stunde an, sobald der zentrale Minutenzeiger eine volle Runde beendet.
Auch die TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12 interpretiert das ikonische quadratische Gehäuse aus der Perspektive der Automobiltechnik neu.
Das Gehäuse (40 mm) aus Titan Grad 4 hat fein gebürstete und polierte Oberflächen, glänzt mit außergewöhnlich leichtem Tragekomfort und robuster Belastbarkeit.
Inspiriert von einem Zwölfzylindermotor ist das
offen gearbeitete Zifferblatt von zwölf rhodinierten, drehenden
Stundenkolben umgeben.
Dekoriert mit schwarz lackierten arabischen Ziffern in einer
auffallenden kreisförmigen Anordnung.
Der schwarz
opalisierende Minutenring und ein zentraler Zeiger mit rot lackierter
Spitze sorgen für optimale Ablesbarkeit.
Der quadratische Gehäuseboden aus
Saphirglas gibt den Blick auf die avantgardistische Architektur des
Uhrwerks frei.
Als Antriebsquelle kommt hier das Kaliber H84-00 zum Einsatz, entwickelt und produziert von La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.
Getragen wird dieser exklusive Zeitmesser mit einem schwarzen Kautschuk-Armband mit Textilprägung und manueller roter
Absteppung, die Faltschließe ist ebenfalls aus Titan.
Die
TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12 soll ab Dezember 2026 zu haben sein.

Powering the TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12 is the automatic Calibre TH84-00, a movement developed and produced by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, drawing on their watchmaking expertise from high-end movement development to fine finishing.The calibre operates at a 28,800 vibrations/hour frequency and offers 45 hours of autonomy.
TAG Heuer has reinterpreted the iconic Spin Time movement developed by Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini, founders and Master Watchmakers of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vouitton.
The resulting Calibre TH84-00 is a dynamic expression of speed and mechanical artistry.
The twelve indexes that rotate around the dial are precisely shaped like pistons, carefully integrated to echo the rhythm of a high-performance 12-cylinder engine, evoking its firing sequence through horological motion.
As the minute hand completes a full rotation around the dial, a precise sequence unfolds: one piston returns to its initial stance, while the following one executes a precise 90-degree turn, unveiling a previously concealed facet indicating the hour, resulting in a dynamic display of time.
